Things happened so very slowly
We let him down
Oh this horrendous journey
The lies,
The threat of death
Such a difficult thing
They took away my identity
This was hell
Having endured all this pain
No one was on your side
They wanted to kill you right away-
shot on the spot
We were hunted like an animals
24 hours a day
I just needed one more escape
“It’s about time”
What?!
Have you gone crazy?
But why?!
Maybe I was dreaming
My mind is going
I'm feeling dizzy
Where to go?

Rationale
I picked fear and questionable hope for the theme of the found poem because during the holocaust, with all the things happening you had to have a little bit of hope thinking you were going to make it out of it okay. The reality of the fear was so overwhelming that sometimes hope was too far from reach. But those who did survive didn't give up on hope. I chose fear because every single Jew that stepped into one of the many concentration camps had no idea where they might end up, or what would happen to them. To fear that you couldn't trust no one because you were too afraid that they would turn on you. I also chose questionable hope because they had a little bit of doubt which made them question them selves. When people are put into those kind of situations they try to be strong but they also question their survival.
